Copycat Chicken Sammie: Imposter or Impossibly Good?

Updated: Sep 21, 2023

COPYCAT "CHICK-FIL-A" CHICKEN SANDWICH

My family vote is: Impossibly good! Moms know just how difficult it can be to please a household of picky eaters. But, this fast food dupe is one of those things that the whole family can enjoy. My family loves that this feels like a treat - I am happy that I'm not giving them a fast food meal and that it fits well into our grocery budget.

As a busy mom and wife, I'm also grateful for the fast, convenient, no muss, no fuss, few-ingredient recipes that I rotate in my meal plan. This one serves that purpose well as it only requires 3 - 4 ingredients, depending on your preference for a la pickle or without.

I have not even mentioned the best part, yet: You can have your cake and eat it too. That is: enjoy your favorite chicken sandwich on Sundays! Nothing worse than a food craving that can't be curbed.

All you need are the few items below:

Ingredients:

Brioche Buns

"OH SNAP!" Pickles

"Chick-fil-A" Sauce

Aldi's "Red Bag" chicken breast fillets

Cost:

Directions:

- Bake chicken breasts per instructions.

(Can also be cooked in an air fryer, following guidelines that came with the appliance.)

- Place 1 fillet on the bottom half of a brioche bun.

- Spread a generous amount of "Chick-fil-A" sauce on the inside of the top half of the brioche bun.

- Optional: add a layer of OH SNAP! pickles.

- Can also add other toppings, such as tomato, lettuce, and cheese, to create a "Deluxe."

- Close the sandwich and serve warm!

Serving options:

- Serve along with a vegetable and fruit serving for a balanced meal.

- Serve with your favorite potato option.

(Waffle fries can be found in your grocery store's freezer section. That is the true copycat "Chick-fil-A" experience, after all.)

Most of the time, I make these sandwiches and we eat them right away.

However, these are make-ahead friendly. Simply wrap individual sandwiches in aluminum foil and they are the perfect item to add to your party buffet.

These make a great addition to your "Game Day" noshes. Especially since these delicacies are now available on Sundays - via your own kitchen.

I like to make these and take them along for road trips, picnics, and outings - wrapping them as mentioned above.

They can also be made in bulk, storing ingredients separately, for longevity, to serve as a staple in weekly meal preps. (Which is why I like this as a lunch option.)

Please let me know if you try this dupe at home, and what you add/change.

I hope you and your family enjoy them as much as we do. But, in these trying times, more than anything, I hope this recipe is a satisfying and still financially successful option for feeding your family. It should not have to be either or.

Bon appetit!

Until we talk again -

Thank you for being here with me Among the Caffeine & Chaos.
